The Arrival

When Raheem (Madekwe) meets his long-lost brother Tom (Ben-Adir) for the first time as an adult, the two form an intense bond, but as their relationship deepens, they must confront the painful truths behind their separation and the family that kept them apart.

Raheem and Tom meet for the first time in their lives at a London bar. They are full blood brothers, but because Tom was given up for adoption by their parents Mary (Scanlan) and Nad (Descas), they’ve never had the chance to meet before now. Tom initially presents as the more confident, well-adjusted of the two, a popular athlete with a girlfriend and a well-paying job, while Raheem is recently single and feeling more uncertain in his life. Tom takes Raheem under his wing as the older brother, and they hit it off, eventually planning to move in together. When time comes for Tom to meet the rest of Raheem’s family, however, the brothers are forced to reckon with the weight of their shared history, and the unhappy circumstances around Tom’s adoption.

A moving exploration of family, identity and belonging, THE ARRIVAL is an emotional, finely-tuned drama featuring exceptional acting talent who are poised to leave a lasting impression on audiences.
